Champlin Park 57 Forest Lake 68 / 0-2

Sunday, December 23, 2007
Okafor Plays Big. Strong 6'7" senoir post player at Champlin Park in the Northwest Suburban Conference. Had a double double (25 points on 10 of 14 from the floor & 23 rebounds) and 4 blocks against Forest Lake Friday in the teams 68-57 lost. The team lost its second straight game (currently 0-2) as the coach is trying to figure out the rotation. The starting PG is returning junior Zerrick Fuller who has not got his basketball balance back yet (starting football player) but will. The coach is starting a couple of talented sophomores (Jasper Duberry & Kyle Zimmermann) who are future players to be heard from and will probably take the team places by there senior year when you factor in another sophomore, Josh Pella, who is currently starting on the JV team. Pella should easily move up by mid year. Duberry, who is an open court player, has not settled in yet but will lift the team when he does. The versatile Zimmermann was the 2nd leading scorer & rebounder (13 points & 6 rebounds) in the Forest Lake game and is hard to defend because of his in between size (6'2") and craftiness. The team has no size (waiting for 6'7" senior Calvin Nolte to join the team, currently serving a suspension) which makes Okafor's numbers and laboring more appreciative. The team looks to be deeper and stronger at the guard position which could lead to some 3 guard line ups.

The Box: Whitehead 1, Fuller 2, Thompson 3, Duberry 1, Jesinoski 6, Witt 4, Theisen 2, Okafor 25, Zimmermann 13.
