Another quality evening of games at the MBA fall league on Saturday. De La Salle, Champlin Park, Minnehaha, Henry Sibley and Duluth East all playing quality games during the evening session. Close games, physical play and fun head to head battles highlighted the day.
Champlin Park took on Henry Sibley in the final highlight game of the day. Mike Rostampour picks up 3 quick fouls and he goes to the bench at the 13:30 mark. But the Rebels can't take advantage as Sibley goes on a 11-1 run over the next 9 minutes. Jordan Jackson with 3 specatular blocks to wipe away 3 breakaway chances and keep Sibley on top. The Rebels recover and finish the half on a 13-2 run over the last 4:45 of the half. 25-21 Champlin Park at the half.
Rostampour back in to start the half and he scores a pair of quick hoops before picking up his fourth foul with 11 minutes left. The Rebels can't take advantage of that and Rostampour stays in the game. Critical moment with 2 minutes left and the Rebels leading by 2. Jasper Duberry returns from a rest and drives to the rim. That draws the final foul on Rostampour and he's gone. Duberry makes 1 of 2 free throws for a 3 point lead. After Jackson and Duberry trade baskets, Jordan Reibling knocks down a transition triple with 55 seconds remaining. That dagger gives the Rebels a 49-43 lead and the game is out of reach. Champlin Park wins 53-43. Sibley falls to a very surprising 0-5 in the league. Duberry finishes with 16 points to lead Champlin Park. Coach Ernest Duberry employed a pressing and trapping style to turn the game in the Rebels favor and keep Sibley from getting into a rhythm.
