CP 73 - Andover 77

It’s Senior Night at Champlin Park as the Rebels look to push their 14 game winning streak to 15 entertaining the Andover Huskies who the Rebels defeated 73-58 back on January 29th behind the 19 points of Brandon Davis and 15 points from Dillon Hager. Kyle Zimmermann, who had 11 big points in the teams’ first game and battled the Huskies bigs, is out.
On to the game. Duberry with the Rebels first two baskets, a short shot by Josh Pella and two D’Andre Williamson baskets and its 10-8 Rebels with 12 minutes to go as the Rebels go into a 2-3 zone. The Huskies go to a full court press and get a turnover that results in 2 Andrew Berndt free throws. Pella with a nice cut to the basket for a 3 point play and another basket, 19-18 CP.

Snider knocks down a 3 pointer and then gets back on defense and blocks Williamson’s layup, timeout Andover as they lead 21-19 with 7 minutes to go. Play is resumed with 2 quick Rebel fouls as Davis takes a shot to the head and makes 1 of 2 free throws. Duberry converts an AND1 as the Rebels take a 23-21 lead with 6 minutes to go.

Pella with a blocked Huskie shot in the lane, Davis is fouled and makes both free throws, Duberry knocks down a pointer to push the Rebels to a 28-21 lead. The Huskies shoot and rebound for a 5 shot possession to get a basket to stop the Rebel run, 28-23. Hager has a pass deflected into the back court that Brent Walker runs down and attacks the basket for 2. Hager gets his first basket of the game for 3, and the Rebels lead 33-23 at the half.
