Champlin Park Players To Play In AAU Super Showcase July 21st - 24th

Champlin Park players Jasper Duberry and Zyle Zimmermann get ready for their appearance at the AAU Super Showcase in Orlando,Florida. The well attended college coach event runs from July 21st - July 24th. The two will be playing in the AAU national tournament while in Orlando that starts on July 25th.

Brett Carlson takes new position at his hometown High School, White Bear Lake



Sophmore basketball coach, Brett Carlson, is ending his coaching tenure at Champlin Park to pursue professional growth opportunities in both coaching and administration.

Coach Carlson was also the Varsity Football Special Teams Coordinator and Assistant Coach, Track coach while teaching Social Studies.

Everyone at Champlin Park will miss Coach Carlson and we wish him well at White Bear Lake High School.

Magic Elite/TNL 16U win MN AAU State Championship

MN Magic Elite/TNL squad prevailed over 43Hoops in the finals by 12 points, in a hard fought game, 69-57. Loads of talent on both squads, look for each team to make a major impact on the summer national circuit in July. 43Hoops has had elite 8/ final 4 finishes on the road already this spring. Elite won the Double Pump Event in Denver and had final four/elite eight/silver bracket championships at the 16U and17U age levels in out-of-state play in April and May. Both squads have a number of players being actively recruited/offered at the D-I and D-II level based on their strong play this spring.

Kyle Zimmermann Status

It should be DULY noted that the coaches decided to hold out the versatile Kyle Zimermann from this tournament who is recovering from a couple of injuries. To quote the coaches "Kyle is a MAJOR part of what we are trying to accomplish down the road on a national level and we don't want to jeopardize that".

As far the 16s level it was 43 Hoops vs Magic Elite and these teams had a combined 24 guys on their benches. Lots of talent there but the Magic won out. Marshall Bjorklund continues to deeply impress. The TNL guards looked like a big help for the Magic controlling the ball although I only saw about 40 percent of the game as the 16s title match was at the same time as the 17s. Vinard Birch of 43 Hoops was penetrating through everybody all weekend long to score. But in the end his battle with Jasper Duberry was won by the Champlin guard.

Kyle Zimmermann was injured last week while playing with his summer national team and did not play this tournament. He is expected to return to action next week.

Super Sophs To Combine With Magic Elite!

Super Sophomores Jasper Duberry and Kyle Zimmermann set to take national tour with the Minnesota Magic Elite team. The sophs top ranked summer team (TNL Express) to combine with the highly and nationally rank Magic to create Minnesota's first "Super Team".

Champlin Park Players Win AAU Tournament

Jasper Duberry, Kyle Zimmermann and D'Andre Williamson help lead their summer national team, TNL Express, to victory in the 3rd Annual MN Magic Invitational. By winning the AAU Super Regional Tournament the team qualifies for the national tournament that will be held in Orlando in July.

Tournament Recap:
TNL Express over Magic Philips 73-69 for the Magic Invitational championship, (Duberry 24, Sewer 16, Sewall 10, Riedeman 11). TNL had defeated Fury South in an exciting double OT game 83-78 in their semi-final game (Duberry 18, Sewer 14, White 14,Zimmermann 18). In the quarter final they knocked off Big Game Sports 67-61 (Duberry 11, Sewer 17). Solid team defensive performances thru out the tournament with Duberry and Sewer putting up numbers.
