MN Basketball Coaches Association All Stars
Congratulations to Scott Theisen for making the Minnesota Basketball Coaches Association 2009 All Star Series Roster (Blue Team)
All-Star Basketball Series
Forty of the state's outstanding senior boys basketball players will compete in the 27th annual Minnesota High School All-Star Basketball Series. Doubleheaders will be played Friday, April 3rd at Halenbeck Hall on the campus of St. Cloud State University and Saturday, April 4th at Leonard Center on the campus of Macalester College in St. Paul.
Friday's event will be tipped off by a contest between the Blue and Gold teams at 7:00 p.m. The Maroon and Green teams will culminate the evening's activities with an 8:45 p.m. contest. Saturday's schedule will include games at 2:15 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. Three point shooting and Dunk contests will precede each of the games both dates. Tickets at the door are $8 for adults and $5 for students (5 & under are free).

Up Next Centennial
Win Or Go Home!
The Rebels (the 4 seed) take on the Centennial Cougars (the 5 seed) Wednesday at 7pm at Champlin Park in the first round of the Class 4A Section 5 tournament. The teams split their two games during the season with each team winning at home. The Cougars current two game losing streak should not be taken lightly as those games where to Blaine and an 1 point thriller to Osseo last Friday.
The Cougars are led by their front line of Anthony Adams and Zach Peterson. The Rebels are going to need a big game from Kyle Zimmermann (21 points and 9 rebounds in the 1st game) to pull this one off. Zimmermann left the second game at the half with a sprained ankle. The Rebels look to have the edge at guard with Theisen (scored 16 points in both games) and Duberry (18 in the 1st win). Another interesting fact will be the teams benches, the Rebels who have recently shortened theirs while the Cougars will play at least nine.

CP 61 - Elk River 74
In front of a packed house and a well planned Senior Night, the Elks play a solid first half of basketball with senior Nick Held leading the way. Jasper Duberry picks up his second foul a little pass the midway mark and heads to the bench. Scott Theisen and Kyle Zimmermann make enough baskets to keep it close as the Elks take a halftime lead of 39-31.
The word of a close Osseo Centennial game spreads through the gym. The Rebels start the 2nd half with a couple of quick baskets when Held reinserts himself. The senior continues to score at will as the Rebels have no answer for him. With Theisen three's not falling, Duberry dribbling to much, Pella making bad decisions and Zimmermann not finishing around the basket this one is over. Great defensive effort by Tyler Munneke holding Jack Gavins to 7 points.
Give credit to the Elks who shot very well all night long and deserved to win this one. Theisen led the Rebels with 15 points as Zimmermann added 13. The Rebels lose to yet another opponent that they had previously EASILY defeated by 20 points earlier in the season. It looks like another game where the other team makes adjustments from their prior game and the Rebels don't. Having to play a team that they have previously played in sections might make a quick exit for them.
A Rebel win and a Centennial lost to Osseo would have given the Rebels 2nd place in the conference, instead they finish tied for 2nd place with Centennial and Maple Grove.
Congratulations to the Northwest Suburban Conference winner, Osseo Orioles, who knock off Centennial 60-59 in a thriller and finish 17-1 in the conference.

Basketball Seasons Come To An End
Champlin Park Boys Basketball
After a devastating loss to the Andover Huskies, the Rebels bounced back with authority especially on the offensive end.
On Tuesday, Champlin Park put on an offensive showcase defeating the Coon Rapids Cardinals 104-82. High scorers for Champlin Park: Scott Theisen-31, Kyle Zimmerman-28, and Josh Pella-10.
Champlin Park's shooting stayed hot on Friday, beating Anoka 92-69. High scorers for the Rebels: Scott Theisen-22, Josh Pella-19, and Jasper Duberry-17.
The final game for the Rebels is on Friday, March 6, at 7 p.m. Section seedings will be set over the weekend. Sectional games begin March 10 and 11.
Champlin Park girls basketball
The Champlin Park Rebels ended the season on a high note. The Rebels had two strong wins to sum up the season. Tuesday, the lady Rebels defeated the Coon Rapids Cardinals 70-69. Two days later they finished off the regular season with 54-44 win against Anoka.
Champlin Park is the number three seed in the Girls Section 5AAAA Tournament. Their first game is Wednesday, March 4, at 7 p.m. where the Rebels host the six seed, Roseville.

UP Next Elk River
The Rebels travel to Elk River on Friday night to take on the Elks in their final regular season game of the year. The Rebels defeated the Elks 72-52 on February 3rd behind Scott Theisen's 19 points. Jack Gavins led the Elks with 13 points.
CP 69 - Park Center 38
The Rebels close out their regular season home schedule and extend their winning streak to 3 with a 69-38 win over the Park Center Pirates. The Rebels jumped out to a 9-3 lead only to have the Pirates tie the game up at 9-9. The Rebels go on another run and never look back. The Rebels had three players in double digits led by Jasper Duberry's 15 and Kyle Zimmermann's 11. Scott Theisen finished with 7. The Pirates where led by Justin Casey who scored 9 points.
