Rebels thwarted in road test with Blaine; 32-28 loss precedes Homecoming visit from first place Andover

It was supposed to pay homage to a departed pop star, but the halftime performance of Michael Jackson's "Thriller" at Blaine High School Thursday, Sept. 24, found a more local twist.

In front of a state-wide television audience and an energized homecoming crowd, the host Bengals and Champlin Park traded big-play thrills before a three-play sequence helped Blaine snag its third victory of the year, 32-28.

With Blaine pinned deep in its own end, Champlin Park linebacker Zach Heinrich dropped a sure-thing interception that would have been a touchdown. Two snaps later, the Bengals' punt slipped through the hands of Rebel returner Tanner Brust.
