Basketbal: Elk boys fall to Champlin Park

Free-throw accuracy boosted Champlin Park as the Rebels held off the Elk River Elks 68-60 on Tuesday evening in Champlin.

The Rebels hit 19 of 25 freebies, including 14-for-18 in the second half, while the Elks were just 2-for-3 in the game. Down the stretch, free throws turned a tight game into an eight-point margin.

Kyle Zimmerman scored 15 points and Jasper Duberry and Brandon Davis 11 each for the Rebels, now 2-5 in the NWSC and 8-7 overall.

Jack Nelson tallied 15 points to lead the Elks. Ben Erickson added 10 points and Menco Yeanay nine.

The Elks, who have lost three of their last five, dipped to 4-3 in the conference and 10- overall. They will host Blaine on Friday evening.
