The Rebels (12-4) are back home on Wednesday February 3rd to put their 5 game winning streak on the court against top conference rival Anoka for the first time this season.

The Tornadoes were on a six game winning streak and in a three way tie for 1st place with the Rebels and Osseo until they lost at home to Osseo last Friday 61-49. In that game Osseo had a one point halftime lead and pulled away for the win with great team defense.

The Tornadoes are led by senior post player Lomumba Ismail who is averaging 16 points a game and is the 2nd leading rebounder in the conference. The Tornadoes second leading scoring is sophomore sensation Marcus Tyus who runs the show for them and is averaging 13 points a game. The Tornadoes who don’t have a deep bench rely on their top seniors David Mooers (12 ppg) and BJ Sherva (10 ppg) who seems to be the glue of the team.

The Rebels, who are 7-1 in the conference and tied for first place with Osseo (who’s at home against Elk River), need to knock off the Tornadoes to stay in first place. The Rebels had four players score in double digits (led by Davis’ 19 points) in their win Friday against Andover as Dillon Hager had a career high 15 points. The Rebels, who are averaging 71 points a game, have won 11 of their last 13 games.
