CP 80 - Coon Rapids 85 in OT

It’s one thing to go into the locker room with a 10 point lead over the #1 team in the state and eventually lose to the master mind of Kenny Novak and the empire called Hopkins Basketball, but to take a 5 point lead into the locker room against one of the lower teams in your conference and lose … its time to look in the mirror.

The Rebels, who have been trying to right the ship since their 3rd game of the season, and seemed to somewhat had, hit an all time season low last night and don’t look for them to recover anytime soon.

The Rebels, who was in every publications top ten, are simply look like an under achieving and over ranked team. They showed again last night in the words of a Budlight commercial, “they aren’t who we thought they were”.

We last saw this the other night as Hopkins came out of the locker room at the half and went on a 24-6 run to take the game over. Before that we saw it in the Park Center game with 9 minutes left with the Rebels up 18 points. Five minutes later, the Rebel’s lead was nine; however they were able to recover.

Tonight, the Rebels raced out to a quick a lead and instead of letting the core group that built the lead stay on the floor and build a lead and put the game further away, the mind boggling substitutions start. This, of course, puts the Rebels in and out of a hole and eventually gives the Cardinals the momemtum they need.

The Rebels were up 38-33 at halftime.

The Rebels finally go up ten points again in the 2nd half and guess what, you got it; the mind boggling substitutions start again. Granted the Rebels had a few times to overcome this, how many times can you consistently put your team in a situation to fail?

Torren Dowdy made a running 15 foot jumper as time expired in regulation to send the game into overtime tied at 75. The Rebels give ANOTHER game a way and fall to 7-4 overall and 2-1 in the conference.
