Rebels Update

The grapplers from Champlin Park dominated a triangular on Thursday, Feb. 12, between Champlin Park, Irondale, and Park Center.

Champlin Park was not so fortunate in the Section 5AAA Team losing a close match 31-35 to Maple Grove.

The Rebels hope now turn to individual qualifying, which will take place Feb. 27 and 28 at Champlin Park High School. Wrestling begins at 5 p.m. on the 27th and 10 a.m. on the 28th. The top two wrestlers in each weight class advance to the state tournament.

After heartbreaking losses to conference rival foes Maple Grove and Osseo, the Champlin boys bounced back with authority Feb. 17 83-70 over Blaine. High scorers for the Rebels were: Josh Pella-27, Scott Theisen-19, and Jasper Duberry-12.

Unfortunately for Champlin Park, they fell victim again to the Huskies from Andover, 60-59, Feb. 19. Leading scorers for the Rebels: Scott Theisen-13, Jasper Duberry-13, and Josh Pella-11.

Upcoming games for Champlin Park: Friday, Feb. 27, at 7 p.m. at Anoka, and Tuesday, March 3, at 7 p.m. host the Park Center Pirates. The regular season will end Friday, March 6, at Elk River.

Champlin Park girls basketball

The Rebels were absent in the win column, losing two close games to conference foes, Osseo (57-51) and Blaine (62-60) Feb. 13 and 17.

Champlin Park found themselves back in the win column defeating the Andover Huskies 76-51 Thursday, Feb. 19. The Rebels are 19-5 over for the season.

The Rebels end their regular season Thursday, Feb. 26, at 7 p.m. hosting the Anoka Tornadoes.
